The Beacon is an interactive monument based in the heart of Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh.
George Street, located in the center of Edinburgh's city center, is facing plans to be converted into a pedestrianized 'no-car' zone and restablished into a European style plaza.
Operating as a completely automated system, the beacon uses the weather to function. Recycling fallen water from the rain and harnessing energy from the sun through solar panels. The beacon then runs as a fountain during the day, and a beacon of light by nightfall.
